Truthfully, I would rather be giving you this welcome in person. Where I can learn your name, some of your story, and have the opportunity to build a relationship with you.
As you search for information about churches, I hope you will move beyond the virtual world and come experience first-hand what First Baptist is like. We are a loving people with a strong mission and heritage in Bristol. Our niche in Bristol includes our important location, beautiful sanctuary, desire for excellence in programing and worship, and the genuine hospitality of our people.
You will find here an ordered program of nurture and Christian education for all ages, with a hunger especially to love and teach children and youth. There are many opportunities for building friendships and fellowship, and we eat together a lot!
There is a call that Jesus used to his disciples as they began to explore the idea of following Him. He said, “Come and See.” Let me make that same invitation to you. If you have any interest in First Baptist Bristol as a possible church home, come and spend some time with us. Worship, linger, meet a few folks; schedule a visit with me if that is helpful. Come and see what we are about, and let us get to know you. I cannot say for sure that this will become your church home, but I can say for sure that you will be very welcome here.
About First Baptist Church
First Baptist, Bristol is literally on the state line between Tennessee and Virginia, with our sanctuary being in Virginia by about thirty feet! Founded in 1859, our congregation has grown with the city, and we serve, not just Bristol, but the entire northeast area of the Tri-Cities region. The Tri-Cities metropolitan area includes Bristol, Virginia and Bristol, Kingsport, and Johnson City, Tennessee, with a regional population of nearly half a million people.
As a downtown congregation, were excited to be a part of the revitalization of State Street, not only in terms of physical renovations, but more importantly, in terms of spiritual renewal. We're growing into a new chapter of our congregation's life. We offer modern worship in addition to our traditional worship service on Sunday mornings, and we continue to offer Bible study groups on Sunday mornings as well as at other times of the week.
